Surgery

She’s gone back to the OR… We were awoken to transport this morning, a little earlier than expected, & waited about 45 minutes in pre-op.

Emerson was very very nervous and gripped my hand tight. She asked, “What do you do when you get scared & nervous mommy?” Sweet girl is growing up so fast.

I told her I think happy thoughts. We talked about fun times we’ve had & fun things we have planned… then Anesthesia pushed a little Versed… then her grip relaxed… and she smiled. All is well. She is in good hands and she will be fine.

The surgeon will be entering Emerson from her back/side & should be able to avoid scar tissue from the transplants and many other operations. As such, I’m not expecting it will be a terribly long procedure – a few hours maybe. No one really knows, though – the anesthesiologist only said that he’ll be there as long as it takes. That’s a good thing 🙂
